Baseball time change for Friday
Liberty’s Big South baseball opener against Charleston Southern today at Worthington Stadium has been moved up an hour to 2 p.m. as the teams try to navigate around some tricky weather.
There’s a pretty good cell of weather over Lynchburg right now, but it appears to be moving off from the southwest to the northeast, and there’s some clearing behind it. I am not a meteorologist, however, so take that forecast with a grain of salt.
Forecast for Saturday is 40 degrees with a 70 percent chance of rain; and Sunday, it’s supposed to warm up to 47 with only a 50 percent chance of precip. So I assume the teams will be dodging in and out of the weather all weekend. Any of the three games the teams don’t get in will be lost, so they’ll do everything in their power to work around the weather and sneak these innings in. Stinks for fans, of course, but with the condensed college baseball schedule, there’s little room for makeup games as the season goes along, and Liberty has already lost five games to weather, and three will not be made up.
