Quick roster takes: I asked LU coach Danny Rocco about the running back situation, and he said he’s moved B.J. Hayes there full time, though he’ll see a little time as a slot receiver and as a receiver out of the backfield. ... Holloway has dropped the Sir from Sir Chauncey, according to the media guide. ... Looks like the biggest position competition will be at outside linebacker, where Jamal Giddens is knocking on the door to start, and at receiver. I’d guess that both starting positions are up for grabs.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up on just how the coverage will be handled in the preseason. With the space in the actual dead-tree version of the newspaper shrinking seemingly daily, the web is really the best place to post the daily minutiae of practice. We’ll still have feature stories and notebooks in the newspaper, but this blog will be the best place to check up on what’s going on at practice on a daily basis. For five days a week, at least, I’ll try to post something daily, whether it’s a positional report or a Q&A or the big news of the day. So check the blog often during camp for updates.

Also, if you haven’t added the blog if you’re on Twitter, please do. I’ll post an update there every time the blog is updated. It can be found at http://www.twitter.com/chris_lang_blog.
