Scouting the opponent: Charleston Southern

First, as always, you can follow the blog on Twitter.

- The Big South was kind to Liberty after its 58-13 shellacking of Coastal Carolina Saturday. Tailback Aldreakis Allen was named the league’s freshman of the week, kicker Matt Bevins earned special teams player of the week honors, and the entire Liberty defense earned defensive player of the week honors.

- Bevins was named a College Sporting News National All-Star for his 14-point performance Saturday. Bevins outscored the Chanticleers by himself.

- Liberty cracked the TSN national rankings this week, checking in at No. 23.

- As I’ve said before, I vote in The Sports Network’s Top 25, so I figure it’s only fair to share my ballot with readers. My vote this week:

PLAYERS TO WATCH

QB A.J. TOSCANO

Toscano has been up and down this season after winning the starting quarterback job from Andrew Trudnowsky. He’s only completing 56 percent of his passes and he’s thrown more interceptions (seven) than touchdowns (five).

WR GERALD STEVENSON

Stevenson is a threat to run and catch the football, as he leads the Bucs in both receiving and rushing yards. He’s also a dynamic kick returner.

DB CHRIS KUZDALE

A sophomore, Kuzdale leads the team with 34 tackles and has one of CSU’s two interceptions this season.
