Scouting the opponent: James Madison

First, as always, you can follow the blog on Twitter.

Links to the coverage from Saturday’s Liberty-Lafayette game:

- Game story

- Notebook

- Liberty quarterback/receiver/kick returner/etc. Mike Brown was named Big South offensive player of the week for his performance at Lafayette Saturday. Brown had 256 passing yards, 88 rushing yards, threw for a touchdown and rushed for one.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

QB DREW DUDZIK

Dudzik and Justin Thorpe are rotating series at quarterback, and both are equally adept to hurt defenses by running the ball as they are throwing it. Combined, the two threw for more than 300 yards last week against VMI.

TE MIKE CAUSSIN

In the past, Liberty has had trouble defending athletic tight ends who run well, and Caussin fits that description. He racked up 133 receiving yards against VMI last week.

DB Scotty McGee

McGee’s a fine defensive back, but his real calling card is kick returns. He’s as dangerous as they come in FCS football, and it’ll be interesting to see how Liberty schemes for him. JMU coach Mickey Matthews said CAA opponents tend to kick to McGee, despite how dangerous he is.
