Three new football faces; Ohman update
I’ll have a full story on the football transfers/signees in tomorrow’s News & Advance, but I figured I’d throw the names out there along with some pertinent links and information.
GREG PRATT
5-8, 165, RB
Pratt is the lone FBS transfer on the list, for now at least. He spent last season at Troy but redshirted. He’s a quick back with great moves on the perimeter, kind of a faster version of B.J. Hayes, which is saying something considering how fast Hayes is. Pratt was a three-star recruit per Rivals.com’s rankings, and he had some interest in Liberty before choosing to go to Troy.
Here’s his Troy bio.
There’s a note on Pratt in this Dothan Eagle story.
Here’s a video of Pratt in high school in Naples, Fla.
And, of course, a video of the death of Dr. Greg Pratt on ER. No relation to this Greg Pratt, of course.
CHRIS MAYO
6-0, 200, S
Mayo spent last season at Fork Union, the same school where current Flames safety Brent Vinson played post-grad football. I can’t find much on Mayo online in terms of stories or videos. Flames coach Danny Rocco called him a Chris Rocco type player in his commitment, work ethic, etc.
FRANCIS BAH
Bah actually is a high school player from Germany who has been trying to get his NCAA clearinghouse paperwork in order. That’s often a struggle for international students, and Liberty’s Soeren Wendland, another German, went through the same struggles in that regard.
Here’s a highlight video I stumbled upon.
Moving on ...
* Liberty’s Kyle Ohman will miss two weeks with his broken left wrist. He’ll have surgery later this week to have a pin put in the wrist to stablize the crack in the scaphoid bone. There was some concern he could damage the bone further, so installing the pin was the smart choice. If all goes well, he’ll miss games against High Point, Radford and VMI and will be back for the Feb. 4 home game against Winthrop. Jeremy Anderson will continue to start in his place. If there’s a time for David Minaya to work his way back into the rotation, this is it.
