First, those notes:

—S Larry Claiborne is out for Saturday’s game against Presbyterian with a sore AC joint in his left shoulder. Depending on how well he heals, he might be ready to go next week against VMI. Chuck Duffey will be the starter Saturday opposite Chris Rocco at safety, and Brent Vinson will back up both positions.

—RB Aldreakis Allen will play, as he’s recovered nicely from a shoulder injury during the week. RB B.J. Hayes is out. Danny Broggin and SirChauncey Holloway will also get carries.

—Allen and Aaron Hewlett will start at kick returner, with Broggin mixing in as well. Mike Brown won’t return kicks this week.

—Justin Vargas will start at right tackle, ahead of Soeren Wendland, who has started the last four games.
