Chris Drager to miss home opener
Hokies starting defensive end Chris Drager (knee) will miss the home opener against James Madison.
Redshirt freshman J.R. Collins will likely take Drager’s place in the starting lineup, and James Gayle will probably see a bump in playing time as well.
Collins was in on 26 plays in the season opener Monday against Boise State and had four assists and a fumble recovery.
Gayle had a solo tackle in lim-ited playing time against the Broncos.
The Hokies are thin at defen-sive end. Only three ends saw significant playing time in the opener – starting stud end Steven Friday, Drager and Collins.
