Lynchburg native Cornell Brown named one of ACC’s 2010 Legends

Lynchburg native Cornell Brown, a football standout at E.C. Glass and Virginia Tech in the 90s, was named one of the Class of 2010 Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship Game Legends.

Each ACC team has a representative, and the players will be honored during the ACC championship game weekend. The game is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 7:45 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

Though he never played in the ACC, Brown starred at Tech from 1993-96 before moving on to the NFL. He earned consensus All-America honors in 1995 and was a first-team All-America selection in 1996 despite missing three games that year with injuries.

He was named National Defensive Player of the Year by The Football News in 1995 after leading the Big East with 14 quarterback sacks.

Brown was a sixth-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 1997 and played seven seasons in Baltimore. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens in 2000.
