Tech adds another football commit
Virginia Tech’s football team received an oral commitment Tuesday for 2011 from highly rated defensive lineman Corey Marshall.
The 6-foot-1, 255-pound Marshall, a standout defensive end at Dinwiddie High in the Richmond area, picked the Hokies over a host of schools. He had offers from Georgia Tech, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, among others, according to recruiting Web site Scout.com.
Marshall, who could play defensive tackle in college, is Tech’s sixth commit for 2011 and the second from Dinwiddie. The Hokies received an oral commitment Monday from 6-4, 220-pound quarterback Chris Hall, Marshall’s teammate.
Hall will likely start his Tech career at tight end.
Marshall is the 18th-ranked defensive tackle in the class of 2011, according to Scout.com. He had 110 tackles and seven sacks as a junior last season.
