Virginia-Virginia Tech pregame
The odds don’t favor the Hokies in this one. Since this series moved back to campus sites back in 2000 (the teams played on a neutral court from Dec. 30, 1976 to Jan. 24, 2000), the home team is 11-3.
Tech has one win in its last 11 trips to Charlottesville (its 70-69 overtime win in 2008).
Moreover, road teams haven’t fared well at all in the ACC this season. In fact, after Duke’s home win over Florida State on Wednesday night, the home team is 25-10 in league games.
Tech is 6-12 in road ACC games since the start of the 2007-08 season. It’s 0-2 on the road in league play this year. Its last road ACC win came on Feb. 25, 2009.
Virginia is 10-1 at home this season. Curiously, its only home loss came to Penn State, which is dead last in the Big Ten right now.
